Windaroo State School Shade Structure

A light footprint for this dramatic architectural shade structure

At just 11 metres long and 7.5 metres wide, this dramatic little architectural statement is one of the smallest buildings Spantech has constructed.

When Architect Chris Collier looked at the plan of the schools in-ground services, he knew he would have to tread lightly. He was asked to design a COLA next to the library. Chris started designing from the ground up. He started with a pair of solid brick walls that straddled the existing services, support the roof, and cross braced the structure all in one step. The foundation was only 2.5m wide.

For the roof Chris specified the Spantech Longreach 800 profile knowing it could achieve large, cantilevered eaves. The result is an innovative and deceptively simple shade structure.
