Revitalising existing aquatic facilities

The Junior Aquatic Centre is part of the Trinity Lutheran College, Ashmore Campus.

The College asked Spantech to design a sun-safe roof over the grandstand as part of a major upgrade to the existing 25m swimming pool and facilities.

The challenging site included poor access, unstable soils, a fragile aging swimming pool and a myriad of in-ground services.

Spantech’s simple design solution was to bridge all the site issues with an elegant skillion roof extending over the grandstand and swimming pool.

Spantech used the superior free-spanning performance of the Longreach 650 profile to achieve an extremely long span in the centre of the building. It is a design solution that no other company can provide.

Spantech’s structural steel design concept minimised the number of columns. Less columns meant they could be strategically placed to suit the existing infrastructure and provide clear lines of sight from the grandstand to the entire pool deck.

At the top of the building, the roof extends over the entrance footpath providing a generous covered area that adjoins the carpark.
